It's Monday, and that means: time for another Charm City Knits Pattern!
(I also have to have a tooth pulled today, so it's not all fun and games. But I digress . . . )
Meet Admiral Fell, a unisex, slouchy-style, reversible beanie!
Once a shipbuilding hub and port town famous for its 3 Bs--boats, bars and brothels--Fell's Point was incorporated into the city of Baltimore in the late 1700s and is now a popular dining, drinking and people-watching destination. Some of its streets are still paved with cobblestones (Fun for driving! Or, no, the opposite!), and most of its old buildings are said to be haunted. We even have a famous ghost--none other than Edgar Allan Poe!
This hat was inspired by a rainy day in Fells--drops of gray rain falling on the cobblestones and into the blue(ish) waters of the bay. Joelle, yarn mistress at Wandering Wool, sent me the perfect colorway for this hat--Moriarty. Its subtly shifting dark blues and grays are the epitome of a rainy day downtown.
The pattern includes 3 sizes--19, 21 and 23" brim circumference--and you need just 1 skein of Wandering Wool Shenandoah, a soft-but-sturdy sport weight, for any size. And if you take care to weave in your ends invisibly, this hat can be worn with either side facing out!
Admiral Fell can be purchased individually for $5.50 via Ravelry, or you can grab the whole Charm City Knits collection at the preorder price, $9.99! When you preorder, you'll get each pattern as it's released every Monday, and the complete ebook when its published on May 9. But remember, the preorder price is only available through May 8.
Four more patterns to go--next week's is one of my favorites, so stay tuned!
