Mister Postman

My grandfather was a postman—a letter carrier, as he called it—though he retired long before my memories of him really start. Even when I was in my teens and twenties, though, he still had bits and pieces of his gear hanging around, including a few sweaters. My mom loved to “borrow” his chunky blue cardigan with the US Postal Service logo on it, though it was many sizes too big.
Mister Postman is my take on the letter carrier cardigan. It’s roomy and cozy, but with a few updated details—a snuggly shawl collar, cutaway front, curved back hem, and garter stitch detailing along the raglan lines, faux side seams and pockets. You’ll be reaching for this perfect lounge cardi whenever there’s a chill in the air!
